Most GTA 6 leaks age badly. The Extended Look and the preview round that followed it have quietly killed dozens of confident claims from the last three years, from five-edition pricing to a thousand enterable buildings. But a few lists have done the opposite, and the most interesting of them is a set of claims posted by the X account GameRoll in June 2025, attributed to a friend of a Rockstar developer. On September 2, Kotaku's Zack Zwiezen went back through it and found that a striking number of the details now match what Rockstar has said on the record.
This article scores that list, claim by claim, against the site's verified fact sheet. A note before we start: the Reddit compilation that resurfaced the GameRoll claims also contains one alleged early story detail. We have left it out entirely and recommend you do the same if you are avoiding spoilers.
Why this GTA 6 leak list is worth scoring
Two things separate GameRoll's post from the average rumour thread. First, it was published before Trailer 2 revealed the protagonists' full surnames, and it reportedly named them correctly, which is the closest thing to a credential a leaker can offer. Second, it was specific. Vague leaks ("the map is huge", "the driving is better") cannot be wrong. GameRoll's claims were concrete enough to fail, and most of them did not.
That does not make the source authoritative. It means one list, from one account, has a good hit rate on the things Rockstar has since chosen to reveal. Treat it as a useful data point, not as a roadmap.
The scorecard
| GameRoll claim (June 2025) | Status now | Source of confirmation |
|---|---|---|
| Six-star wanted level returns | Confirmed | Extended Look; Rob Nelson preview round |
| Greet and antagonise NPCs, RDR2 style | Confirmed | Nelson: interactions go "much further" than RDR2 |
| Rectangular minimap with pink waypoints | Confirmed | Visible in the Extended Look HUD |
| Slow-motion ability when aiming | Confirmed | Focus meter shown in the Extended Look |
| NPCs react to visible weapons | Confirmed | Nelson to Famitsu: NPCs may call police if you enter armed |
| Weight gain and loss returns | Confirmed | Nelson: food affects weight, exercise builds muscle |
| Limited weapon carry, trunk for extras | Partly confirmed | Trunk storage is a confirmed system; the exact carry limit is not stated |
| Campaign split into chapters | Confirmed | Rockstar: RDR2-style chapters |
| Gore and dismemberment | Reported | Kotaku lists it as borne out by previews; Rockstar has not stated it |
Seven of nine land cleanly. One is half right, and one is credible but not something Rockstar itself has said. For a list posted seventeen months before launch, that is an unusually strong record.
The claims that did not hold up
Kotaku was careful to note that the wider January 2026 Reddit compilation, which bundled GameRoll's post with claims from other sources, includes plenty that now looks wrong or unsupported.
- Three large islands. Nothing in official material describes Leonida as an archipelago. The confirmed structure is one contiguous state with six regions and the Leonida Keys chain to the south.
- More than 1,000 enterable locations. Rockstar's figure remains 700-plus interiors. That is enormous, but it is not a thousand, and nothing since has raised it.
- A basketball minigame. This one is actually confirmed, but Kotaku's point stands: predicting that a Rockstar game set in Florida has basketball is not evidence of a source. Easy guesses do not count.
That last point is the most important lesson for reading any leak. A list earns credibility from claims that were hard to guess and specific enough to be falsified. Pink waypoints on a rectangular minimap is that kind of claim. "The map will be big" is not.
How this changes the way to read leaks now
The site's guide to verifying a leak yourself already argues that provenance beats plausibility. GameRoll's list is a case study in that. It was dismissed widely in 2025, Zwiezen included, because it read like a wish list: RDR2's systems grafted onto GTA. It turned out to be accurate precisely because Rockstar built the game that way.
There are three takeaways.
- "Sounds too good" is not a test. GTA 6 is a game with 600,000 NPC animations and a doubled studio headcount. Ambitious claims about it are not automatically fake.
- Time is the only reliable filter. Every claim on this list was unverifiable in June 2025 and is verifiable now. The correct response to a leak at the time was neither belief nor dismissal, but a note to check back.
- A good record on gameplay says nothing about story. Systems are visible to hundreds of developers and testers. Story details are compartmentalised. Even a source with a perfect gameplay hit rate should be treated as unreliable on plot, and the one story claim in this compilation deserves exactly that scepticism.
It is also worth separating this quiet, text-based leak from the August Cyberleek episode. GameRoll posted a list of claims and let time judge them. Cyberleek stole and sold footage. One is rumour reporting of the kind that has existed as long as the series; the other is a crime. They should not be lumped together as "leaks".
Frequently Asked Questions
Who is GameRoll?
An X account that posted GTA 6 claims in June 2025, attributed to a friend of a Rockstar developer rather than a direct source. It reportedly shared Jason and Lucia's surnames before Trailer 2 revealed them, which is the main reason its later claims have been taken seriously.
Does this mean GTA 6 leaks are generally reliable?
No. It means one list had a high hit rate on systems Rockstar has since confirmed. The same compilation includes claims that now look wrong, and the volume of fabricated and AI-generated leaks in 2026 is higher than ever.
Is the weapon carry limit confirmed?
Trunk storage for spare clothing is confirmed by Rockstar's own wanted system description. A hard limit on how many weapons you can carry, and the trunk as an overflow for guns, is reported but has not been stated by the studio.
Are gore and dismemberment confirmed?
Not by Rockstar. Kotaku's scorecard lists it as supported by previews, and the game's mature rating is well established, but no Rockstar statement describes dismemberment as a feature.
The Bottom Line
GameRoll's June 2025 list scored roughly seven out of nine against what Rockstar has now confirmed, with the misses being partial rather than outright wrong. That is a rare record for a pre-reveal leak and a useful reminder that the correct reaction to a specific, falsifiable claim is to wait rather than to believe or scoff. It changes nothing about the wider rule: a good record on gameplay systems is no evidence at all on story, and the story is the part still worth protecting.
